This is the second oldest Kiev Cathedral, built back in the 11th century. Communists recklessly destroyed this old church back in 30th of the last century. It was restored in 1990. The cathedral is new and shiny. It has many golden domes and beautiful wall paintings to enjoy. You can find a small old wooden church in its backyard.
•St. Sophia's Cathedral
This cathedral is listed among UNESCO World Heritage sites. It was raised back in 11th century by Yaroslav the Wise. There was no Ukraine or Russia back then. People lived in country called Kievian Rus. People of that period were fond of culture, books, arts and music. You can see some of the most ancient books, paintings and other artifacts of that age in the Cathedral.

The Gate was raised back in the 10th century. These gates served as entrance gates to Kiev city all the way until the 18th century. Presently you can touch the 10 century old foundation stones, climb old wooden steps and visit Golden Gate historical museum.
•Opera house - just around the corner.
This Opera house was raised in 1901. It stands in the place of the old Kiev Theater, which was burned down at the end of the 19th century. It locates over 1600 seats, has fine ceiling Vienna lamps and old bronze decorations. All seats are covered with expensive red velvet. This opera house has four flours inside. On the outside the building is decorated with beautiful stucco. One can listen to opera or watch ballet in the Kiev Opera house.
